A clean heart create for me, O God, and a steadfast spirit renew within me." - Psalm 51:12
Archbishop LeGatt on Lent 2023 and Households of Faith
The season of Lent is already at our doorstep and the Lord invites each of us to come aside with Him to be silent and thus receptive to the Word of God.
What a great time to start a Household of Faith or to join an existing Household! In this video, Archbishop LeGatt cordially invites us to take advantage of this Season to gather in a Household of Faith in order to share the Word of God, even if it means starting with a small group of 3, which can then continue to grow.

10th anniversary of Pope Francis' pontificate
On March 13, 2013, Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected pope, taking the name Francis. Since that day, Pope Francis has proven to be a missionary, a preacher of mercy and a peacemaker. In Canada, in 2022, we saw him become a penitent pilgrim when he apologized to the country's Indigenous people for the Church's role in the colonization and assimilation of Indigenous persons, particularly through the residential school system (click here for more information).
On March 13, the Holy Father reiterated his wish for peace in the world, and his dream for the Church and the world; "fraternity, tears and smiles". "Human brotherhood, we are all brothers. Learn not to be afraid to cry and smile. When a person knows how to cry and smile, it is a person who has his feet on the ground and his eyes on the horizon of the future. If you forget to cry, something is wrong. And if you forget to smile, it's even worse."

The Dicastery for the Promoting Integral Human Development is asking the faithful to pray for the Holy Father, offering at least one "Hail Mary" for him (click here for more information).

Archbishop LeGatt - What Exactly is
Archbishop LeGatt reflects on the family, and more particularly, on what constitutes a “good Catholic family”, and on what this “good Catholic family” may look like, today. He also invites you to two opportunities for married couples in our diocese to be enriched, to grow deeper in their love for each other and to discover the full richness of the Sacrament of Marriage:
➡️The Breathe Catholic Marriage Conference, coming to St. Emile Parish March 17th and 18th 2023 will be an amazing event during which couples will be inspired, recharged, and given practical tools designed to help build unity, rediscover joy and experience peace in their marriage. It’s a perfect gift for couples to give to each other this Valentine’s Day! Register before February 17th to save $60. More info and registration: www.catholicmarriageandfamily.com
➡️Teams of Our Lady is an international lay movement in the Catholic Church designed to enrich marriage spirituality. The goal of the movement is to help couples discover the spiritual richness of the sacrament of marriage and to live it day by day. Teams of Our Lady are active here in the Archdiocese of Saint Boniface and are open to new members who would like to be encouraged and supported in their married life and faith journey.

Archbishop LeGatt on the Passing of Pope Benedict XVI
“The death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI brings a sadness to our archdiocese. But the sadness will be short-lived. We now know his last words, "Lord, I love you”. It’s in this simple statement that we find the whole soul of Benedict XVI. While it’s true that he was a great theologian who knew how to elaborate his thought in his early reflections on the Second Vatican Council, his academic writings, his books and his papal encyclicals, we should never forget that all that reflection was animated by a personal encounter with Jesus, and by a desire to make the love of Christ shine in our contemporary world, with all its complexity. I will remember in particular his humility and courage when he announced his resignation in February 2013. Benedict XVI had accepted his election as Pope but said himself that he felt he was not the man for the job. Nevertheless, he responded to the call of the Church. Among other accomplishments, he contributed to continued dialogue with people of other spiritual traditions and, in Canada, to reconciliation with Indigenous people. I invite all the faithful to pray for him, and to take the time to read or re-read the books and writings he has left behind.”
– Albert LeGatt, Archbishop of St. Boniface

Praising and giving honour to God for One Hundred Years
Holy Cross Bridges the Past and Present
December 10, 2022. After a three-day Centennial Retreat, followed by a week of special centennial Masses, Holy Cross Parish celebrated its 100th anniversary with a Celebratory Mass presided by Archbishop Albert LeGatt, followed by a delicious potluck supper. For parishioners, friends of Holy Cross and indeed, the entire archdiocese of St. Boniface, it was a time to pray, celebrate in each other’s company, and most of all, reflect on one hundred years of faith and growth, and just how good it is to gather in such a warm and welcoming community.
