NEW - Archbishop LeGatt On the Spiritual Meaning of Sports

In this month’s message, Archbishop Albert reflects on the spiritual meaning of sport. After last weekend’s Good Shepherd Cup in our diocese, and as the FIFA World Cup brings people together around the world, we are reminded that sport can be more than a game. It can build friendship, joy, teamwork, and unity. In a world that is hurting and divided, sport can help us remember that we are all part of one human family, called by God to walk together in hope.

And while God doesn't take sides--we sure do ;) Go Team Canada!

“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity.”

 - Psalm 133:1

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Because of your incredible coordination, organization, and generous sponsorship, the Good Shepherd Cup 2026 soccer match and community event on June 18th was a resounding success.

From the unveiling of the team jerseys by Archbishop Albert LeGatt on June 17th in the presence of the Council of Priests and Knights of Columbus members, to the final whistle of the tournament, the Holy Spirit truly blessed our gathering. Almost 60 Players and 350 parishioners, including many cheering children, came together at 6:30 PM to celebrate community and sportsmanship within the St. Boniface Archdiocese. People were very generous, and we raised $ 271.00 for the Good Shepherd campaign by hosting the Good Shepherd Cup.”

Photo Gallery & Video – Marriage Catechumenate Workshops

The Archdiocese of Saint Boniface and the Archdiocese of Winnipeg recently partnered to host two Marriage Catechumenate Workshops, bringing together clergy and lay pastoral leaders from both Archdioceses to reflect on and strengthen the Church’s pastoral approach to marriage and family life.

Held on April 16 and April 18, 2026, the workshops invited participants to explore lifelong formation for the vocation of marriage and the Church’s mission of accompanying couples and families in faith and with pastoral support throughout every stage of life.

We are grateful to all who attended and contributed to these synodal days of learning, dialogue, and renewal. The strong participation from both Archdioceses was a testament to our shared commitment to supporting marriages and families in our local Churches.

Special thanks to Julia M. Dezelski, consultant to the Vatican’s Dicastery for Laity, Family & Life for her inspiring presentations, insightful guidance, and generous contribution to these workshops.

Photo Gallery – Ordination to the Transitional Diaconate of Joseph Martin Pham

Christ the King Church was filled to capacity on May 29 for the ordination to the transitional diaconate of Joseph Martin Pham. The Mass, solemnly presided over by Archbishop Albert LeGatt, was a joyful occasion marking the seminarian’s entry into holy orders. We ask all the faithful to pray for our new deacon and to pray that he may experience a year of continuous spiritual growth as he prepares to become a priest in 2027.

A big thank you to Morica Pham and Nam Vu, from St. Philip Minh Parish, for their superb photos.
