Dear faithful of the Archdiocese of Saint Boniface,

Our priests are at the heart of our Church's life, not only at the altar and in opening us up to sacramental life, but throughout our spiritual journey. They support our families, children, and elders. They visit the sick, accompany us, and listen to us. They are a fraternal link between Christ and His Church. And they invite all of us – laity and ordained – to full, active, conscious co-responsibility in the liturgy, in our parishes’ pastoral life and administrative oversight, and in spreading the joy of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The life of the Church in our diocese has been greatly enriched by the 10 young men ordained as diocesan priests since 2017. Amongst them  are four born in Canada, four originally from Vietnam and two originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa. Thanks to your significant contributions to the Good Shepherd Campaign, since its inception in 2016, we’ve been able to assure their formation either through St. Joseph’s Seminary in Edmonton or St. Peter’s Seminary in London, Ontario.

This year, incredibly, we will have eight candidates at various stages of the formation journey. Two are sons of our soil here in Manitoba, three are originally from Vietnam, two hail from Congo and one is coming to use from India through the secular institute called Voluntas Dei. This means that looking into the future, most years will see one or two  ordinations to the priesthood.

These young men, both those already ordained and those on the way will contribute very significantly to the future of our Archdiocese, to the future of each of our parishes. Please pray for them all. And, please give generously to our 2025 Good Shepherd Campaign. With this number of candidates we need more than ever your support.

Give... For The Life Of The Church.

With gratitude, in Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd,

Archbishop Albert LeGatt
