World Youth Day

We are excited to invite all our Young Adults ages 18 -35 to journey with our delegation from the Archdioceses of St. Boniface and Winnipeg for World Youth Day 2027 in Seoul, South Korea (July 27 – August 11, 2027). This is a unique opportunity to encounter Christ, grow in your faith, and journey alongside young people from around the world.

As part of our commitment to serve our diverse community, we are happy to share that our delegation will be bilingual (English and French).

To support this:

  • We will offer catechetical sessions and small group discussions in both English and French
  • There will be a dedicated French-speaking group leader to accompany and support French-speaking pilgrims
  • At the same time, there will be opportunities for all pilgrims to gather together, fostering unity and community across languages

We will do our best throughout our preparation and pilgrimage to accommodate the bilingual nature of our group, ensuring that everyone feels welcomed, included, and supported.

Please note that once we arrive at World Youth Day, we cannot guarantee that official WYD events and sessions will always be available in French. However, we will make every effort to:

  • Seek out sessions or resources that offer French translation where available
  • Utilize tools such as FM radios or other translation supports when possible

We are committed to walking together as one community, doing our best to support both English- and French-speaking pilgrims throughout this journey.

 

What is World Youth Day?
World Youth Day (WYD) is an international gathering of young Catholics from around the world, initiated by Pope John Paul II. It is a powerful opportunity for young people to encounter Christ, grow in their faith, and experience the beauty and universality of the Church. In today’s world, WYD offers a unique space for young people to be renewed, encouraged, and reminded that they are not alone in their faith journey.

The theme for WYD 2027 is: “Take courage! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33) — a call to live boldly in faith and trust in Christ amidst the challenges of our time.

Age Requirement: Those discerning participation in WYD must be at least 18 years old by July 27, 2027. Our archdioceses are following the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops guidelines, which recommend a minimum age of 18 to attend World Youth Day for dioceses forming an official delegation. Participants will also need to ensure they have the proper travel documentation required for entry into South Korea. We encourage everyone to prayerfully discern before registering, as this pilgrimage involves both commitment and preparation.

Pilgrimage Package Information
We are working with a trusted tour company, Tour Design, who has organized a LAND ONLY package from July 27 – August 11, 2027, starting at $2500 which includes:

  • Days in the Diocese Registration: July 28 – August 2
  • World Youth Day Registration: August 3 – 8
  • Accommodations
  • Meals
  • In-land transportation
  • Day trips and pilgrimage experiences
  • Pilgrimage preparation

 Pilgrimage preparation is an essential part of this journey.
As pilgrims, we are called not only to prepare physically and financially, but most importantly mentally and spiritually. This intentional preparation allows us to fully receive the graces of the pilgrimage, deepen our relationship with Christ, and journey together as a faith-filled community.

What is NOT Included : Flights to and from South Korea

Must arrive in Seoul on July 27, 2027
Must depart any time after August 11, 2027
Flights must be booked by December 30, 2026

August - October: No scheduled deposits (encouraged to book flights or catch up on payments)
November 30, 2026: $500
January 30, 2027: Final $500
