Final Document from the Pre-Synodal Meeting.

The young person of today is met with a host of external and internal challenges and opportunities, many of which are specific to their individual contexts and some of which are shared across continents. In light of this, it is necessary for the Church to examine the way in which it thinks about and engages with young people in order to be an effective, relevant and life-giving guide throughout their lives.

Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment

In February 2017, Pope Francis announced that topic for the Synod of Bishops for the XV Ordinary General Assembly will be "Young people, the Faith and Vocational Discernment". He says: " the Church has decided to examine herself on how she can lead young people to recognize and accept the call to the fullness of life and love, and to ask young people to help her in identifying the most effective ways to announce the Good News today."

What is a Synod?

It is an institution that derives from the Second Vatican Council, which brings together bishops from around the world to reflect together on a specific issue. This gathering ends with the adoption of a report which the Pope can take up the conclusions and publish them in a “Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation”. (Source : EWTN)
