Hearing the Call of God: 5-part series starting on Saturday, September 29, 2012
It is a basic claim of our faith that God calls each one of us. Still many of us feel uncertain about how it is that we hear that call and respond to it. Over the next year the Chemin Neuf Community will offer a 5-part series on "Hearing the Call of God" The series will explore various dimensions of call and discernment in Scripture and Ignatian Spirituality with teaching, prayer (both communal and personal) and sharing groups. For those who wish, the series may be accompanied by spiritual direction and a week-long retreat in the spring of 2013. These sessions will take place on 5 Saturdays (Sept 29, Nov 3, Jan 12, March 9, May 11), 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m at St. Charles Retreat House, 323 St. Charles Street, Winnipeg, MB. Participants are asked to register for all 5 sessions. The cost for the entire series is a suggested donation of $200 (including lunch and coffee breaks). We hope to be able to provide child care for parents with younger children. To register please contact Ted and Nancy Wood at stcharlesretreat@hotmail.com or after August 8, call (204) 885-2260. Registration is limited. Please register by Sept 15. Click here for a poster.

Stewardship Reflections

19th Sunday in Ordinary Time - August 12, 2012
In today’s first reading Elijah seems ready to give up. His calling has become a burden. Yet, God gives Elijah the nourishment he needs to continue. Sometimes, in the face of the constant media barrage telling us to seek more and more pleasure and possessions, the stewardship way of life may seem burdensome. The opposite is true. People discover that a lived experience of stewardship is actually very freeing and the stewardship way of life offers many rewards. When we grow weary on the journey, we are blessed to share in the Eucharist which gives us strength.

20th Sunday in Ordinary Time - August 19th, 2012
What an awesome gift we receive in Holy Communion. As stewards of this great mystery our challenge is to go into the world and give joyful witness to what we believe! Sunday after Sunday we are sent to glorify our Lord by the example of our lives. It is in the little things we do with great love that good stewardship is demonstrated.
