Sacramentary (The Roman Missel) 1974 - For the English sector, this remains THE sacramentary and orientation we use in Canada. The new sacramentary has not been finalized and both the English and French are to be released at the same time – so until that time, this is what we have. We do not use the 2002 US version already approved. Refer to the General Instructions of the Roman Missel (GIRM) for details regarding the celebration of the Eucharist. Also, the sacramentary has a wealth of prayers than can be used in other settings.

Ordo - annual publication put out by the CCCB with guidelines and preferred practice for Canada.

John F. Baldwin, Bread of Life, Cup of Salvation (Understanding the Mass), Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, Inc., Toronto, 2003 (A wonderful book, readable and full of information at many levels, has discussion questions for group study).

Mitch Finley, "The Joy of Being a Eucharistic Minister" Resurrection Press, New Jersey (1997) A little book geared for the lay ministers – stressed the call and joy of this ministry and how one grows in their love and understanding of this sacrament).

Paul McPartlan, Sacrament of Salvation (An Introduction to Eucharistic Ecclesiology), T&T Clarke Limited, London, 1995. This is not a casual read but is a wonderful treatment of the sacrament of the eucharist discussed in terms of the Church, building the body of Christ, and the fullness of the symbols of the Body (bread) and Blood (Wine). Theology yes, but well worth the effort.

Catechism of the Catholic Church (1994) Section II Article 3: The Sacrament of the Eucharist #1322-1419.

Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church CCCB (2006) #271-294.
