Catholic Schools Commission

: About :

The Catholic Schools Commission (Manitoba) Inc. serves the Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of St. Boniface and the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Winnipeg.

All Catholics must be concerned about providing a Christian Education for all catholic children by their joint efforts and by their financial support. Even persons without children, as well as parents whose children have already left school must share this concern.

Catholic Schools are a unique environment in which pupils can experience the presence of the Holy Spirit. The focus is on the individual’s spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, cultural and physical development. In Catholic Schools pupils, parents, teachers and staff are drawn to proclaim the Gospel message, to unite in worship, to respond to the needs of the community through hospitality and social justice, and to serve all people through the sharing of their spiritual gifts and temporal goods. (Statement of Philosophy and Practice for Catholic Schools)

Academic Program:

CSC schools offer a strong academic program based on the curriculum as prescribed by Manitoba Education and Training. All staff are qualified and certified teachers dedicated to our Catholic mission.

Religious instruction, sacramental preparation and celebrations of the Eucharist are an integral part of our Catholic School Program.

Parental Involvement:

All schools are incorporated and have a Board of Directors. Parent Advisory Council members are elected by parents and report on their involvement throughout the year.

Discipline:

Our schools endeavor to maintain a safe, nurturing environment. Each school has developed a Christian Code of Behaviour/Conduct or Restitution Model based on the rights and responsibilities of each member of the school community.

Each student is challenged to be accountable for her/his behaviour within our faith centered communities.

Co-Operative Funding:

As independent schools we receive partial funding from the Manitoba Government. Operating costs are offset by reasonable tuition fees, fund raising and parish support. Bursaries are available.

Communities:

Each school is a blend of students from the local parish community and/or other parishes within the archdioceses. The school community is nourished by faith and its own unique mission. Our schools welcome and support a diverse cultural and economic population.
